MCEDSV worked for amendments to protect survivor confidentiality and address domestic violence and sexual assault program VAWA requirements. As passed, bill addressed most MCEDSV substantive concerns. MCEDSV will actively participate in and follow implementation.

MCEDSV has been working with statewide partners for the creation and passage of this bill, which addresses the rights of sexual assault victims and establishes clear expectations and greater accountability on behalf of survivors.

Allows the department to establish a suspicion-based substance abuse screening and testing program, and include it in eligibility criteria for family independence assistance program benefits.
